Thank You, Ford!

So, just for being a blogger, Ford gave me a car!

Not for forever though. Just for a little road trip my husband and I are taking this weekend. It's pretty awesome. They brought a candy-red 2011 Taurus SHO to my doorstep today. Let me tell you, I've only driven it for about five minutes but I'm already in LOVE with this car. I want one. THIS one. In this exact color. It's faaaabulous. And SO different than the old Tauruses! We used to have a 1999 Taurus and while it drove nicely, it just was never a car I liked very much for a number of reasons, starting with the way it looked. Just wasn't my cup of tea. THIS Taurus? Is GORGEOUS. Look:

Isn't it beautiful?
When I got in the car and started it up, the radio sprang to life. It was on the Sirius "80's on 8" channel, and it was seducing me with 'Tempted' by Squeeze. Oh, I AM tempted. SO tempted. I drove around the neighborhood a little bit before I had to come back and get the kids from school. I hopped in my old car, tuned it on, and sighed. I love you, old car, but suddenly I don't quite LOVE you anymore. My old car's radio sang wistfully to me, "I can't live... with or without you... and you give yourself away, and you give yourself away..." I took it as a sign. Our relationship will never be the same again.

I can't wait to fully explore the Taurus and tell you guys what I love about it, and I'll even see if I can get my husband (who is much more into cars and the technical aspects of them than I) to write up what HE thinks of it for any car-techies out there, but from the little bit of playing around in it, so far I love:
the backup camera with proximity detector
the fact that the pedals are adjustable
the nav and Sync systems
the big, easy to use touch-screen with a million features I haven't figured out yet

and pretty much, you know, the whole car.

This weekend, we are driving to House On The Rock in Spring Green WI (just about my favorite place on earth!) to participate in the American Gods / Neil Gaiman event, and we will be driving there in this awesome car, and I will be updating with plenty of pictures and news throughout the weekend. If you're not a fan of this blog on facebook, now is the time to like us so you can see all the fun!

Can't wait to share it all with you!

I was not monetarily compensated for this post, nor was I required to write about any of this. Ford simply contacted me (as well as, I assume, other bloggers) a few months back and said "We currently have a number of very cool opportunities to give bloggers the chance to take a Ford vehicle out for a road trip, weekender or just out for a spin in the neighborhood. The vehicle would be yours for up to one week to go wherever you choose within US borders. You will have free range to test out off the technology, quality, safety and green sustainability the vehicle has to offer." I wrote back and said 'HELL YES, FORD!" and that was that. All opinions expressed in these posts are our own!
