I went there because I had been in a hit and run accident. My bill is huge, bigger than life. I was charged over 4500. For exercising on my own. I was also charged for sheets of papers with exercises on them for me to complete at home for a whopping $120 I was charged $885. For evaluations that lasted all of 5 minutes a piece. They have robbed me without a gun and I can never get anyone on the phone to answer my concerns about this Bill. I would never recommend them to anyone not even my worst enemy. As of today, I...Thank you so much for the comments. As of today, I've heard that Chiro-One is now Medulla LLC. Wonder just why did they change their name this past year anyway? Now an LLC at that? The second red flag is the open interview process, which I was invited to at their Oak Brook Campus. I've sold almost anything you can name, from guys who started companies just to sell worthless products to the general public, to men who sold real honest products and services many of you use today. My opinion of the Chiropractic craft is that it has its good and its bad points. In the early 1990's when the new HMO's spilled out into the public, doctors tried to be administrators and had no idea how to run local clinics. This Chiropractic system appears to be one that runs on dollars and the hope that you can convince the public that it is the cure all for every disease known to mankind. There are probably some good Chiropractors out here, where? is the good question to be answered. When they ask for dollars upfront for services they have yet to perform, then you have to wonder, why? What hospital is gonna make you pay for a flu or broken leg upfront, or even an exam? Lastly, beware of any one who diagnoses you with a payment plan, or some doctor (can they call a chiropractor a doctor?) who has all the answers by manipulating your neck. Thank You all again, and I am glad I won't be joining these guys in the future. I'd rather sale used cars, like I did 15 years ago.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3527687942378659129.post-5681188109794648042015-12-18T15:27:53.431-06:002015-12-18T15:27:53.431-06:00As another said, the clinic Staff mostly are great...As another said, the clinic Staff mostly are great. Chiros, jus...I am a Chiropractic Sports Physician. Chiros, just like all healthcare providers, have procedures in place so as to be efficient and provide the care that they believe benefits their clients the most. They also must be aware of the acceptable practices as defined by the profession's governing bodies. If you overtreat and over promise it will eventually catch up to your practice. That's what the IDPR and other regulatory groups watch out for. With that said, you can fire your Dr just as easily as any other professional you hire. If their practice does not fit your desired goals then fire them. From what i have read the Chiro One concept may not "really" fit the accepted evidence based practice guidelines set forth by most chiropractic governing bodies. For instance if your acutely sore lower back or neck pain are not improving in the first 6 - 8 visits then they are unlikely to improve with that type of care over 24- 36 more visits, something needs to change. Notice I said improve not fixed in 6-8 visits. There should be an improving symtom and function profile in 6- 8 visits. Additionally if your conditon has reached maximum improvement then you should be dismissed from care and encouraged to return when needed. The need for wellness care should be the patient's decision alone, no sales pitch necessary, and the patient should accept that their insurance may not pay for wellness care. Research also validates the combined approach of using chiro + exercise as most effective for neck and back pain. Yes, I have seen other conditions like asthma, colds, GI/GU disorders, and ear infections improve with chiro care but I would never hold chiro care as the preferred approach to these problems, maybe "ancillary and complimentary" would be a better way to view Chiro treatment for those conditions.

So do your homework, go somewhere reputable, with a personal approach. Don't like open adjusting rooms (most PT clinics have open treatment rooms too!) then find a good chiro with a more private treatment setting. Feel like your being over sold a treatment plan then don't do it, get a second opinion. But most of all if you are having a good result with a Chiro, that you admire and appreciate, please tell others so they may benefit as you did. All Chiropractic offices are not alike!.

All of us as Chiropractic Doctors love our profession and would like to see it continue to grow in acceptance and professionalism.

In closing my apologies for any spelling or grammatical errors, as I write in fragmented sentences all day. Find the good Chiros and tell others about them! I thought the deal was too good to be true, 20.00 for physical exams, x-rays, foot scan etc., as nurse I know that price is not correct, but I decided to go anyway. Once I got to the facility I gave them my paperwork for the free assessment I had received in the grocery store. They didn't even look at it. They gave it back to me and told me it was mine to keep. I was then given additional papers to fill out. First question, "What is your Chief complaint?” Well I don't have one. You came to me remember… in the grocery store? Well next they wanted my insurance information. Why? I thought this was for 20.00 bucks which I already paid you at the grocery store? I told them I did not have my insurance card but I gave them my insurance information. They said they need the actual card for verification. Oh really? I don’t think you do.
Next, a young man came over to give me the grand tour. I saw a bunch of cheap equipment you can find in any corner gym. He told me he would be doing my assessment. I asked what his credentials were. He stated he was a tech. I asked what exactly does he do? He said "everything." Really? So what does “everything “entail? That he could not articulate, only to say he had been a tech for years and that I was in good hands. During the tour I was taken to a patient care area (no patient confidentiality) where I witnessed the snapping of a person's neck. Right away I decided I did not want this done to me, especially since I have personally taken care of someone who sustained paralysis after such a procedure.
Next, I witness a child not more than 2 years old walk in front of me in the patient care area. The tech told me the child had just received an adjustment. Oh really? This child is not even old enough to tell you if his back hurts or not. What parent allowed you to adjust their baby' spine? Right away I could tell these people were all about making a quick buck. Apparently they convinced some parent to allow them to tamper with their baby's spine just to charge the insurance. The tech told me they have adjusted the spines of children as young as 6 weeks? I could not believe my ears. I asked why you would do that. He said why not? My answer...I cannot believe you would start adjusting the spine of a totally healthy baby. His answer.. you assume it's healthy. My answer…you assume it’s not! Nowhere have I seen a recommendation for a healthy infant to have a spine adjusted.
I immediately smelled a rat and told them I did not want to proceed further and my 20.00 assessment was ending.

People, don't be fooled. Ask questions and ask you primary care physician before you have anyone start maneuvering your neck or spine. Make sure they are qualified and ask around for recommendations if this is something you feel you must have. Under no circumstance should you allow someone to adjust the spine of your newborn.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3527687942378659129.post-33646689447981870462013-09-20T12:14:10.512-05:002013-09-20T12:14:10.512-05:00I just scheduled my 20 dollar exam and this articl...I just scheduled my 20 dollar exam and this article was super beneficial, the fact that they are a huge chain will make it a lot easier for me to refuse future care from them if I dont like what they tell me. thank you very much for the inside scoop! They...There are some interesting comments on here.

They are a business. They want/need to turn a profit -- shocking! How unethical! Maybe I have a skewed perception because I work in med/healthcare from the business side (not chiro). Any doctor, dentist, or chiro has to turn a profit -- how else are they going to make a living? If they really wanted to do it for free, they would be giving their services in some third-world country, not working on you, an American patient, with the best health insurance in the world.

Which brings me to the next point. Billing insurance. How is billing your insurance a scam? The insurance companies mandate the "reasonable and customary charges" which are what my chiro uses. The insurance company sets these. Some of you really need to do your homework as to how our insurance system works. Are some of those charges/costs OUTRAGEOUS -- yes they are! This is part of the reason healthcare costs are through the roof in general -- but don't put the blame squarely on a ChiroOne office.

ChiroOne is a "chain" but not all the Doc's are the same. My local Doc did NOT pressure me into the full treatment. I had done chiro in the past (I have some neck and lower back injuries from sports, a bad fall, and two car accidents) so I was planning on long-term treatments/visits no matter what his "pitch" was. He actually talked me out of the 36 visits and recommended the 12 (2/week) so that I wouldn't be "locked-in" to more treatment than I needed. He thinks I'll be fine with monthly or bi-monthly visits after a few weeks of more regular visits. Maybe some of the Docs are high pressure and push the full package, but mine did not.

Like anything else, ChiroOne will be good for some and not for others. I like the flexible hours and staff at my local office. Maybe yours is full of creeps or used car salesmen, but don't stereotype the whole chain.

Did their "pitch" come off a bit scripted? Yes, but I'm in sales and I honestly expected something about like that since ChiroOne is a chain. Most people working there are young. The economy is still recovering, and it's hard to find a job. In the case of the Docs, it's hard to build-up a client list. You either buy into an established office, start at a corporate "chain", or start with literally nothing, regardless of medicine, dental, opto, or chiro. I know plenty of good Docs that started at chain medical, dental, or eye care offices, so why can't a new chiro get his start at a chain? I find ChiroOne no more "cult-like" than a LensCrafters or Audubon Dental -- they're all corporate offices in the end. I guess I'm just more comfortable with that since I've spent my entire working career in the corporate world. Maybe I should envy some of you that get to work in a more relaxed setting.

For those on the fence, go for yourself and see what it's like. In the Internet age we think we can read reviews/opinions on everything and not have to take any risks. Guess what? Most times, the sample population for these reviews is skewed one direction or the other. Go and experience it for yourself. Maybe you'll like it, maybe you won't. Is there a bit of a sales pitch? Sure. Does it feel a bit corporate? Yes. Has my neck and back pain (and overall mood) improved since going to ChiroOne? Yes. Do I feel like I'm getting a good value for my dollar spent? Yes. These are all very subjective things, and I would encourage anyone thinking about chiro or ChiroOne to give it a chance before jumping to any conclusions. Good luck and be well!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3527687942378659129.post-87940465625517133682013-07-27T06:38:03.803-05:002013-07-27T06:38:03.803-05:00You go to Walmart and pay $0.90 for a Snicker. You get PE'OD because it's all relative. Same with Chiro One because you pay $60 per visit on top of $80 for your insurance company for the same visit and all you get is 2 minutes by the "Doctor" and 5 minutes on some mediocre equipment on your own.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3527687942378659129.post-29227594433736859652013-06-16T13:13:24.028-05:002013-06-16T13:13:24.028-05:00Folks, My father was a fire fighter for twenty yea...Folks, My father was a fire fighter for twenty years. I have a hump at the base of my neck, so I wasn’t surprised when my x-rays showed that something was seriously wrong with me.
I signed the contact, missed an appointment or two every week for the first few weeks. I even tried to cancel the contact. My mental state hates being around strangers, but Dr. Sarah is so warm, patient with me and she genuinely cares. She has pulled me aside for an extra talk and even called me, so I put on my “big girls panties” and tried to embrace the treatment fully.
It’s not a scam, if you see your x-rays and have issues like mine, it’s just a way that they use to help you help yourself. I’ve been to many of chiropractors before. None has been as thorough as Chiro One has. No one has concentrated on fixing my back to help straighten out my neck. One even told me that the hump resting under the back of my neck would be there forever, and I saw him in his private office for six months, left there because I never felt the benefit, I still had pain in my back. Another one never took x-rays, although his services made me feel better temporary. I saw him for a couple of years in his private office once a month. Another took x-rays once, put cold/hot packs on my lower back then pressed gently on my back for a couple of second then cracked my neck. My regular doctor told me to stop wasting my money with him, twice a week for nearly a year and still in pain. He had a much larger private practice.
Now back to Chiro One. I’m in my 7th week with them. No more depression, no more psycho-analysis, I feel taller, migraines are gone, I have energy, and the people and clients makes me feel welcome, so no more social phobias….we all are used to each other by now.
Last thing, my energy level is off the charts for me. I live 3 blocks away from my job. I’ve always drove, after the first few visits at Chiro-One, I didn’t feel so exhausted as I have been for the past decade, so I decided to walk to work. It’s been like heaven, I walk to and from work at least 4 out of 5 days minimum.
All, I have to say is, if you think Chiro One is a scam then it’s the best type of scam for me and I’m sure a lot of others out there, because I’m feeling great! Dr. Sarah and Megan and the rest of the team in Des Plaines, IL are awesome people.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3527687942378659129.post-88402512400944442812013-04-21T21:26:03.627-05:002013-04-21T21:26:03.627-05:00Thank you all so much for your 2 cents - it has sa...Thank you all so much for your 2 cents - it has saved me much $$$, I'm sure! I totally see EXACTLY what your problem is, and am looking forward to seeing you Monday." I'm going to go to a PT where I can have my care for the wee fee of $25 a visit. Thanks, all, for your input!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3527687942378659129.post-37032231268745086932013-04-17T23:26:23.254-05:002013-04-17T23:26:23.254-05:00That is not Chiro One they do not offer massage se...That is not Chiro One they do not offer massage services. If the issue is muscle imbalance that is causing the misalignment then your best bet is to seek an orthopedic who will recommend specific exercises to strengthen the weaker muscle group or elongate the inflexible muscle group as the case may be. Even this takes weeks to months of several hours of therapy. Not a half a dozen, millisecond long adjustment before they move on to the next paying customer.

This is a TOTAL SCAMAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3527687942378659129.post-20460022782337084242013-03-31T07:58:43.535-05:002013-03-31T07:58:43.535-05:00I have been using Chiropractic care on and off for...I have been using Chiropractic care on and off for most of my life. Nothing beats your normal everyday neighborhood Chiropractor.
Don't fall for Chiro One's money grabbing tactics. The Chiro One Doctors use special tables that do the adjusting rather than the Doctor's experienced hands making the adjustment. How can a table know where your ailment is located? I never felt like I was getting a proper adjustment at Chiro One.
I prefer my regular Chiropractor and I like his hands-on manual manipulation so much better than those silly carnival rides at Chiro One.
If you have an Automobile or Workman's comp issue, Chiro One won't take those type of insurances a regular Chiropractor will.
Just go to a regular Chiropractor, they will only adjust you on an as needed basis and they won't milk your insurance.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3527687942378659129.post-67658093497859970862013-03-04T00:04:45.735-06:002013-03-04T00:04:45.735-06:00I went to Chiro One and they did the following: t...I went to Chiro One and they did the following: took an Xray and told me I had reverse curvature of the neck, told me I would need to come back 3 times a week for the next three months, and then said so let's schedule your appointments and how would you like to pay for that? From the posts I have read, this seems like a common practice. I went there for an adjustment, but did not get one just a presentation instead. I felt pressured and uncomfortable. The staff was VERY nice, but to the point where I felt uneasy. I felt guilty saying I could not afford all those treatments, and I did not return.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
